The Department contains 3 research groups of functional genomics, molecular genetics and molecular quality improvement. It focuses on genomics and important functional genes of vegetable crops, it also explore the genomic - based molecular design breeding techniques and methods. They develops the whole genome sequence map of vegetables such as cucumber, tomato, potato, Chinese cabbage and cabbage, revealing the genetic basis of genetic diversity and its domestication and molecular mechanisms of yield and quality traits. They published a hundred of articles on Top journals such as Cell, Science, Nature Genetics, Plant Cell, PNAS, etc.
