The department consist 3 research groups of genetic breeding of tomato(S. lycopersicum), pepper (Capsicum spp.), and eggplant (Solanummelongena). They engage in the discovery of genetics and mechanism on important agronomic characters, such as fruit quality, disease and stress resistance to improve crop yield, quality and resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses. Exploration and application of novel breeding strategies including male sterility, cell engineering technique, molecular marker-assisted breeding, whole genomic selection, genetic engineering etc. They are committed to germplasm enhancement and development of new varieties.
