The department focuses on collection and evaluation of potato germplasm, development of integrated  breeding technology and new variety, establishment of seed-tuber multiplication and crop management  technology. For decades, the department has collected and preserved over 3000 germplasm resources,  bred 31 varieties with high yield, high quality and multi resistance. The team was awarded national  advanced group for poverty alleviation and The second prize of national Sci&Tech progress.
