The department is divided into four breeding groups including cucumber, melon, squash and watermelon. We focus on cucurbit vegetable crops germplasm collection, preservation and evaluation; genetic analysis and candidate gene mining of disease resistance, stress tolerance and quality related traits; functional molecular marker development of the important agronomic traits; haploid and polyploid tissue culture technology study; gene transformation, gene editing technology study; and elite material development and new variety breeding of high quality, multi resistance, green and efficient.
